That’s right gang, Artist’s magazine is holding its annual art contest. Subject matter is wide-open and can be done in any media. More than $25,000 in Cash Prizes, and first place winners get $2,500. Jump’s holding a Hanami fan art contest for its readers. Hanami in Japanese translate to “flower viewing”. Between the months of March and May, the Japanese hold festivals and parties to celebrate the blooming of the sakura or cherry blossom trees. Shonen Jump wants its fan to create art featuring Jump characters having fun under the cherry blossoms.

This one is for you Blender junkies out there. Blender Nation has just reported the release of a new python script written by Alex Telford called the Sculpt Trim Curves Utility. If your familiar with Blender 3D, you know it has some pretty robust sculpting abilities. It works much like Zbrush‘s clip curves brush. Basicly, the Trim Curves Utility allows you to poke holes and chop apart your mesh. Here’s a demo of the script via YouTube:
