Winsor & Newton Gets a Refresh

Ironic how I start with a British company. But Winsor & Newton is one of my favorite manufacturers of art products. I’m an especially big fan of their [amazon text=www.amazon.com&chan=amazon default&asin=B000YQI89K] as well as their watercolor and gouache paints.

Anywho, I just found out that they just had their website revamped and fully utilizing HTML5. The site features an artists’ spotlight, artists’ gallery, art material features, articles, videos, and an integrated store that can be access almost without thinking. Winsor & Newton are also premiering a new line of watercolor markers (which I believe will give Prismacolor and Copic a run for their money), watercolor sticks (much like pastels sticks), and recently released limited edition pigments for their professional watercolor paints.

The Legal Perils of Art

NASCAR's Tony Stewart.
The Championship by Lee Hammond drawing for QVC. Copyrights and trademarks belong to their respective owners.

This was an eye-opener. In fact I encourage anyone that wants to become a professional artist to read this article. Lee Hammond shares a top 5 of legal issues any professional artist must consider. Through her brutal honesty, she gives a good over-view on each issue, including a slice of life-experience.

I bet I sound like a freakin’ shill today. Viz is having another convention special. That means Weekly Jump get drops  the yearly subscription down from $25.99 to $19.99 USD. This online weekly contains English translations of One-Piece, One Punch Man, Naruto, All You Need is Kill, etc. I’m currently subscribed to it. I may end up buying another year. If money’s an issue, no worries. the $19.99 sales normally occur during big comic book or manga/anime conventions here in the US.
